Abstract
The emergency assessment tool, Emergency Market Mapping and Analysis (EMMA) was used to explore program options for meeting firewood and fuel needs of over 50,000 individuals displaced by conflict and taking refuge in Jalozai internally displaced people camps near Peshawar, Pakistan. A team of livelihoods and emergency experts reviewed the firewood value chains to determine its capacity to meet the increased demand at normal, market rates. Household economic data was analysed to determine the impact of the displacement on family budgets and consequential effects on their ability to purchase legal and sustainable fuel supplies.
