Recently receiving financial support from GACC to ramp up production in Kenya, Burn, a manufacturer of cookstoves in Nairobi, has a goal to provide quality and affordable cookstoves and a variety of cooking solutions that will save the consumer money, time and reduce indoor air pollution. Manufacturing in Africa is cheaper, but harder, according to Burn's General Manager. Roads are difficult to traverse, building the structure of a factory is more difficult to do than many other countries, and funds are needed for upfront investment. But these challenges are met with Burn's capacity to manufacture up to 8000 Jikokoas a month with a back room inventory of 20 000 Jikokoas at all times. Currently, they have a demand for 6000 stoves per month with one sale every five minutes and they hope to expand their consumer group to manufacture to capacity soon.
