Stockpiling cookstoves for use in humanitarian settings

The Global Alliance for Clean Cookstoves invites participants to a series of meetings focused on increasing access to safe and efficient cookstove for those living in humanitarian settings and accessing carbon finance for cookstove and fuel projects.

The first meeting is a day and a half long workshop to help develop a web-based ‘one stop shop’ for carbon finance that contains information on the benefits of carbon finance and how to access it, guidelines for developing cookstoves carbon projects, as well as templates and standardized tools to assist stakeholders with varying levels of carbon expertise.

The second is a half day meeting between the carbon finance and humanitarian communities to discuss the benefits, challenges, and potential ways forward in accessing carbon finance in humanitarian settings.

The third meeting will be a small working session between key humanitarian implementers and cookstove manufacturers and designers in order to work towards the development of an implementation plan for stockpiling cookstoves in humanitarian aid warehouses and to facilitate procurement orders of appropriate cooking technologies in emergencies.

We welcome invitees to participate in any or all of these workshops. Additional information, including a formal invitation, meeting program, as well as background and logistical information, will follow in the coming weeks.

If you are interested in attending, please RSVP with the name and contact information of the representative from your organization that will be attending each meeting.
