UNFCCC has registered Atmosfair’s Programme of Activities (PoA) on improved cookstoves in Nigeria. It is the first cookstove PoA in Africa and the second ever registered PoA in Sub-Saharan Africa.

The PoA will disseminate up to 100,000 cookstoves within the next 5 years, yielding emission reductions of up to 250,000 t CO2 annually. Under the PoA different types of improved cookstoves using wood can be counted.

Atmosfair invites investors from financing institutions or the private sector to invest in Climate Proof Areas (CPAs) or a group of CPAs under the programme, in return for Gold Standard CERs which alternatively can be re-purchased by atmosfair at premium prices. The registration takes effect from 1st January 2012.
